I was very excited for Path of the Old Gods to come out, I played the demo and loved it. I actually loved it so much that when it was released, I didn't use my old demo save to forward into the new game. Like most Idle games the beginning stages of the game look staggering; I don't know how I will ever reach that combat level, I don't even want to think about that armor right now, I need what skill for what? But the game does a really solid job of rolling you into a good system (kudos to gameplay design) that gives you a feel for how to progress and what to focus on.
In the end I ended up having about 15 characters that you can deploy to three areas of the game. The areas open up as you progress and even though it is the same enemies each time, they do get progressively harder and you can see that the drops of most areas definitely mean something.

One aspect of the game that I really liked was the leveling of buildings, I had not really seen that in an Idler, but as you progress you can get more and more evil (torture, mind control, etc.) turning your prisoners into heroes. It sounds like a pretty bleak setting for a game, but the art makes it fun.
The art style is definitely reminiscent of the whole Mewgenics crowd. I love this kinda art and I think it really shines in a game like this where there isn't too much "action" per se on the screen because it is an Idler. Each monster type is very well done and the animations for all spells are pretty solid. At any general time you can tell what buffs you have on people, etc.
I leave my idler games on while I go to work and while I sleep so my hours all seem pretty crazy when you look at it, but I am probably only managing the party maybe 2-3% of that time allocated for the game. I was able to 100% the achievements on Steam for this one in 294.2 hours, which is also adding in the demo time I believe. That equates to probably about 9-12 hours of actual game time managing. Very solid little game. I highly recommend.
