Eldara is an odd game. I tried to play Melvor Idle at one point ( still on my Idle game kick ) and I just didn't get it. Eldara is a better game with a better skin, but still the same underpinnings and I like it a bunch. I don't know what this says about me. One of the my favorite comments ever about a game is this one on Steam LINK. Its kinda spot on, but also, its kinda why I really enjoyed the game. I can work on code and just let that bad boy progress in the background and not really check on it but a few times a day. It is always funny when I look at my Steam stats. I have almost 1000 hours into Diablo IV at this point ( real hours, love the game, it's my nightly session game ) and then I look at something like Eldara which I have almost 250 hours into, and I have only played it over probably the past month. The game just stays on. Sleeping? Games running. Coding? Games running. Watching shows with the wife? Games running. Its just constantly minimized and check on once a day. If you thought crypto is wasteful, Idle games may be right up there. Then again so is scrolling on Twitter and Instagram I guess.
This definitely seems to be the first real management idol'er I think I have played since there really is no battle screen. The one that they do have is just a player vs a foe and numbers flashing across. Its completely static and you really just sit there and watch the health/mana bars if you do want to pay attention. The strategy comes in the macro where you see the tides of a few battle when decide if you want to adjust the settings.
The resource management I think it actually the fun part. As you start to level up of course the crafting builds on each other, however the amount that you can usually procure while you sleep is great and pretty solid for leveling up your character. Just leave the game on mining while you go to bed and usually in the morning you can just flip that active skill to smelting and work all day and have a sizable amount for equipment in the evening.
Pretty solid game, I would give it an 8/10 for "Idleness" and a 9/10 for fun and achievement. I recommened if you want something just running along side your day.
